Our trip went well. The camper took a couple of days to get used to, such a small space and no place for luggage, so it was in the cab at night and at the back of the van during the day and never emptied! The van itself was easy to manœuvre and park and fairly economical to run. The outside table was never used as the screws on the leg fell off on the first day and were actually too small to stay on. The girl who took the van back on returning it in Christchurch gave us $50 in compensation. We never used the toilet as it was stored under one the seats which were also part of the bed and so very much out of reach. Fortunately, facilities were always close at hand. All in all, we were quite happy but feel it was quite an expensive van for what it offered, but then van hire seems generally expensive in NZ.
All the campsites we stayed at were good and we used a software which we purchased before leaving called Campers New Zealand by Rankers that I would recommend. The only place lacking accommodation is in Wellington and we paid $50 for a site in the port area which was more like a parking space than a camp site, but then it was in town...
I hope all this is useful to you. Thanks for your early help with our booking. Kind regards. Nicole
